AmeriCorps hours for educational grant money available here!
Each year, AmeriCorps offers 75,000 opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds to serve through a network of partnerships with local and national nonprofit groups.
For graduate and undergraduate students who need a multicultural experience and would like to visit the Gender Center, we will be hosting several student nights on Thursdays throughout the year.
At Student Night you will receive a general overview of the transgender/gender varient community, as well as participate in an open forum with transgender/gender varient individuals who will tell their stories and answer questions.
If you would like to attend Student Night, please contact Dr. Karen Scarpella, the Gender Center's Program Director at email@example.com.
Working to create a world free of transphobia by telling the truth of people's lives.
One of the most effective ways to educate is to interact directly with members of the community. The Gender Center's Speakers Bureau educates the public about gender identity and expression through individual and panel discussions in a variety of settings. Members of the transgender and allied community who have received training for this purpose enter into these discussions prepared to disseminate accurate information, to answer questions that may have about the realities of gender variant lives, and to introduce the gender normative majority to visible members and allies of this mostly invisible minority.
